Last night’s episode of Boston Med featured Children’s Hospital Boston patient Sam Peerless, who was born with a complex congenital heart defect (CHD) called hypoplastic left heart syndrome (HLHS). If you missed, it you can watch the whole episode here.
Immediately following the program, WCVB, the Boston ABC affiliate, aired a follow up news story on the Peerless family and Sam’s condition about a year after Boston Med cameras filmed his birth and initial surgery. See the full news report on Sam’s progress here.
In the upcoming weeks Thrive will feature more coverage of Sam and his family, as well as further information about heart conditions like HLHS and their treatments. In addition, Thrive will have exclusive content provided by Sam’s mom Reene, sharing her reflections on her family’s Children’s experience and what it was like being constantly filmed during such a difficult time in her life.
