All of us at Boston Children’s Hospital were deeply saddened by the horrifying events that marred the Boston Marathon. Despite the pain we feel for the victims and their families, we also are inspired by the speed and selflessness displayed by the Boston Children’s community, both that day, and in the following weeks.
From our team at the finish line who helped care for the wounded to the off-duty staff that came in to cover shifts for those who could not make it into work, healthcare professionals from across all levels of Boston Children’s responded quickly, efficiently and compassionately, and they continue to do so as they support those touched by the terrible events of that day.
We owe a debt of gratitude to all of the men and women who put the needs of victims and families first and are still doing so as the healing process continues for many. Strength and sensitivity of this magnitude, especially in the face of such tragedy, personifies our mission to provide the best possible care to all patients and families, under all circumstances, and so it is with immense gratitude that we say thank you to our entire Boston Children’s family for their unwavering commitment to that goal.
